Good for them?

Aren't they in some bush league private association that goes beyond Texas but has less than 30 members or something?

I guess we shouldn't comment about Texas private schools ITT about Texas private schools

Just saying.

They have a history of producing college talent. Why not join UIL?

Because they have like 160 kids in a grade and play more sports than just football. They would have to be pretty far down in UIL in football to compete year in year out and the whole recruiting thing is pretty frowned upon

Public schools much better.

I went to high school right outside of Waco and there's a private school called Reicher in town. They won like five straight state championships but played a school of the deaf in the playoffs like every year.

We would play them in 7 on 7 and would thrash them every year. It's not even a competition.

Fair enough.

Isn't there another (larger) private association for Texas HS athletics though? Why is the one Episcopal belongs to so small?

TAPPS has more schools but I don't think it's more competitive, at least not in football and baseball IMO

Outside of St Thomas and St Pius, TAPPS has a pretty weak footprint in Houston area sports in general.

The UIL is not open to all. Private schools can't just decide to join. The fact that the Jesuits got in was a huge deal and they are under intense scrutiny.
