I think it is a combo of depth and leads. Regardless of what the coaches say, I watch what they actually do and it seems like LSU has 5 DLs, 4 LBs, and 5 DBs that play 85% of the snaps. This tells me there is a significant drop off in the coaches mind on most of the 2nd team D players. I think the offensive coaches have not passed perhaps as much as they would like to rest the defenders.
Mills will help somewhat. Hopefully other defenders will step up and earn more significant snaps.

Totally agree. When the DC goes in at half after allowing 0-3 points the only thing he's trying to change are little mistakes/nits he's seen throughout the half.
Of course the opposing OC is thinking "what an I do differently". As a DC you just have to wait and see and THEN react. Depending on how things play out (who gets the ball first, trial and error by DC on a drive) it could take a while to properly adjust. It's just not as simple as you'd think.

Moo St. We were on the field a lot. First game we played and fatigue set in.
AU- Took our foot off the gas, evidenced by Adams tap dancing around the lead blocker on the Johnson touchdown.
Syracuse - unfocused. Hard to get up for that game. Weird atmosphere, 11 a.m. kickoff, jet lag, turf field.
Overall - teams start running more misdirection run plays and hitch passes, dinking, and dunking their way down the field.
Offenses start moving the ball more, but it's not like our defense becomes porous. We've had some nice three and outs in the second half throughout our three games.
I like how we collapsed the pocket in the second half against Syracuse, we just didn't come up with any sacks. I would like to see our corners start jumping those hitch routes and taking them to the house.

Opponents offense makes adjustments and we stay with our same D bc it worked in the first half.

Why is it absurd to think Steele isn't making adjustments? I'm not saying that's the reason but it's certainly a possibility.
Chavis was good at halftime adjustments. At least until he quit on us.

#1 Steele doesn't blitz up the middle, he only uses poorly timed safety and corner blitzes. #2 Steele rarely uses press coverage on his Cb's on 3rd and long so teams get easy 3rd downs #3 ergo no quick 3 and outs so our defense is exhausted!! -Florida will put up 21 in the 2nd half we better have a big lead 1st Half.

There is hardly ever a post by you where you aren't trying to shite on the LSU coaching staff and team. This thread is so full of fail and ignorance it isn't even funny. The truth is that LSU has been up double digits in every single game in the second half and therefore they change their defense to give the dinks and dunks. I'm not a huge fan of that....but it's what they are doing. They aren't exhausted, not adjusting, etc....what a crock of shite. Some of you kids, I tell ya. It's amazing the number of games LSU's non adjusting/coaching staff wins compared to all those teams that are far superior to the LSU coaching staff, except in wins...lol. Tiger79 you have no fricking clue what Florida will do in the second half...you just saw your shot to shite on LSU...so you took it.

Overall I like the defense this year. I think they are tackling well and getting lots of pressure on the QB.
However, with the pressure on the QB I would expect the secondary to look better than they have. Seeing our cornerbacks and safeties get beat by Tight Ends and Wide receivers consistently is starting to wear on me. I think Dwayne Thomas is the weak link right, but that gets fixed when Jalen Mills comes back. Donte Jackson got significant time in the secondary against cuse. He didn't look bad either.
The good news is that the secondary is capable of playing better and it is expected they do at LSU.

Its a mixture of
1) Lack of depth on the DL/guys getting tired
2) Offenses making adjustments
3) Teams have been playing from behind
4) We have had big leads
Its not one or the other, its a combination of all those things.
