Havasu Falls in Arizona - hiking related

What do you guys know about this place, Havasu Falls? My wife wants to do a hike out there. From what I have read its a pretty intense 12 (?) mile hike and is difficult to get to. Any suggestions on time of year to go? Any other suggestions.

We hike togehter often. We have done most of the hikes in Louisiana and Arkansas.

I'm not on facebook baw. I'm sure my wife has seen that. Irregardless, any info on the actual hike. Looks intense but with a great reward.
