I couldn't renew my drivers license in Alabama until I paid a parking ticket that I got in South Carolina.
I was allowed to call and pay it right there with a credit card and was allowed to leave with my license after I handed the clerk my phone and she spoke with her counterpart in Sc.

In Nola they'll boot your car, if they find you that is. If I didn't live in the city I wouldn't worry about it, but I've been booted before so I pay them.

Last year I went to jail for a night for a 4 year old unpaid red light ticket after passing through a checkpoint and being suspected of dwi. I wasn't impaired and passed all the tests- including breathalyzer- fine, but they brought me to the parish prison on a bench warrant for a ticket that was apparently sent in the mail to my parent's house (my mailing address at the time) years ago which I never even received.

I was astounded to have to go through all that for such a petty thing.

If it's in NOLA you better pay it. My roommate didn't pay two of them from this past year and her car got booted. It cost her 500 bucks total. Sheesh.

Yes it does. I have the co-signer to prove it. I waited 3 years to pay one. Best believe they get a collection agent after that arse.

Just got a letter from a collection agency for one I didn't pay here in Baton Rouge. Should I call and tell them to validate the debt because I never agreed to any kind of financial payment with the city? Want to make sure I handle this right to get it tossed.

This thread is loaded with responsible, law-abiding citizens.

Yes, that was sarcasm.
