I can think of two Penn State alumni who are friends of mine. One is a real apologist who's sort of in denial about a lot of things, so there are certain topics I know not to bring up because it just makes for pathetic and uncomfortable dialogue. The other really distanced himself from college sports. He may have a hat or a shirt here and there, but there's no chest-beating or anything like that. Very weird how all this has affected everyone from there, and I think this contributes significantly to the cultish vibe (to put it gently) that seems so obvious now.

Have you ever driven through PA between Philly and Pittsburgh? There's literally nothing and PSU is right in the middle of it.

Watched it. There was a part when the Mike & Mike show was on the air bringing up the 2001 incident with Sandusky.
Mike Golic: "Done".
I had to agree with him.

Very sad part of story is adopted son, Matt
He goes public, and rest of Sandusky family exiles him and his family.
You have his young kids that lose a whole part of family. I do not know how Mrs. Sandusky could just close her grandchildren out like that.

The Penn State lunatic fringe is the worst I've seen in a fan base which is a shame because there are a lot of good Penn State people.
Looking at the BWI forums and the people that defend Sandusky and think that he was railroaded is sickening. All this because of Joe Paterno's legacy. They should burn that forum to the ground. We all know Paterno did a lot of good and we also know he made terrible mistakes regarding Sandusky. After all, unlike what the cultists think he was human just like the rest of us.

Without a doubt, that lunatic fringe is disgusting. They remind me of Finebam callers, and should be taken just as seriously.

JoePa and others knew about Sandusky way back in the 90s when the first hints of this stuff surfaced. Sandusky wins the award for being the best coordinator in the college game AND DOESN'T GET OFFERED A SINGLE HIGH PROFILE JOB? I wonder why that was...

quote:Reminds me of when I visited State College 7 years ago. Buddy and I flew in and I felt like the airport was dropped in the middle of a corn field. It really is kind of weird to see this giant stadium & mini city in the middle of nowhere. After this whole scandal went down a few of my PSU friends commented on the fact that the football program was just like any other football program around the country. Things got covered up and the fact that PSU is located in the middle of nowhere helps that.

Like Hulk, JoePa was the scapegoat.
