Cell phones with best signal

I work in rural areas and often times have low signal on my iPhone 6. My coworkers have iPhones and samsungs and get better connections than I do. Could my phone be a dud? Do samsungs and the iPhone 5 somehow get better signal than my 6?
On the same note I googled and didn't find any new information on the subject. What are the phones with the best antennas? Or are they usually about the same?
Any info would be great.

If you're using it in your car, look at a Wilson booster

Moto did some really special things to make the best antannae in the business on the 2014 moto x. I get service everywhere. There are videos out there showing how they tuned and tested the antannae. It gets way better service than my wife's iphone 6.

phone is likely not as relevant as is the provider for the signal

I should have noted everyone around me has the same provider as I do and they get better signal. We have a booster set up also and mine is still the only one with low signal.

Motorola phones have always seemed to have the best reception in low signal areas. I'm on my second Motorola (Razr Maxx) and I have no complaints whatsoever.
