JVG is more hip to the modern game than people think.
That literally is the only conceivable instance in which Van Gundy and "hip" could be used in the same sentence.

Is this true? How would everyone feel about Sean Miller wing head coach? I think he's an excellent college coach. Just not sure about him as an NBA coach. In all honesty, I'm not sure about anyone not named Brad Stevens.

I'm not even sold on him as a great college coach.

Van Gundy's Houston teams didn't play at as quick a pace modern nba fans are used to mostly because a healthy yao ming was a focal point along with tmac. In new york, a halfcourt game featuring inside-out attack with ewing and allan houston is more conducive to winning than freewheeling up and down the court. I dont think by any means he is mike d'antoni but i do think you would see him get something out of a roster like NOLAs.
not counting the year he resigned in NY, his teams made the playoffs every year and never finished lower than 5th. Learned under pitino, wenzel, riley, and nellie to name a few. Watching nellie and his brothers teams surely enhances his opinions of how points should be scored.
I would support but would also like to see a strong short list of names
