It would be nice if we could get a grad student big. We really don't need any more guards, even if Malik N. goes elsewhere. We need someone better than Darcy M. & Big Elbert.
This is a play for the future. After this season (which Foster would have to sit out) we will be very low on guards due to Gray and Hornsby graduating and the likely departure of Blakeney. He would be able to come in like Hornsby did this past year with two years experience and a year in the system.

Blakeney isn't a lock one and done guy IMO. I look for him to be here 2 years, he needs to add some bulk.

I'll pass on the undersized 2 guard who doesn't shoot it at an elite level AND has off the court issues. Especially with the in state 2016 kids available. You can get a 4 year guy like him without the issues from your back yard.

Size (meaning bulk, not height) literally means about nothing to NBA scouts, especially for guards. Remember Kevin Durant not even being able to push up 185 pounds once on the bench? Kid was a bean pole.
Im not saying Blakneney is a for sure 1 and done, but its very very likely he is. It's just the way it is now, and his best buddy Simmons will definitely be hone. Kids want to come in and go out as quickly as possible. Colleges are essentially treated as a d-league team for all these 1 and done guys.

He shot almost 40% from 3 his freshman year

Nigel Williams-Goss anyone?
I take Nigel over Foster in a heartbeat.

Well, he was worse in his sophomore season. He'd still be a solid player, but I'm not sure if he's the best option to grab.

Running Hickey off, do we really need someone else's problems. I guess LSU is headed back to having some stud sitting out on the bench every year like the Dale Brown era.

So that means he cant get better as he's proven he can be?

You have to entertain all options, the other guys might not be real options for us.

There's a reason why Nigel is transferring. His teammates, even back in high school, hate him. The kid is a cancer to any team he touches, despite his stats

Jj must believe he can help the kid and I wouldn't mind him joining the team because he is a great player. He has to get his disciplinary issues right though. Gross is a better player but foster would be a great pick up too. We have room for two more scholarship players. If we don't get Newman I believe foster, papagiannis, kasongo or Frazier or any variation of the two would be good for the program. If we can slide in for other transfers or high profile recruits that would be outstanding too.

How an people say they wouldn't want a guy who averaged double digits in the Big 12 for 2 years in a row?
People clearly don't understand how much we will lose after next year.

Hornsby, Ben, Gray are only locks to leave.
Would leave 3rd year key player Patterson and likely at least 1 of the 2 guards in TQ/Blakeney (and who knows who else LSU may sign this year).
Plus, I take Skylar Mays, Malik Crowfield, DeJon Jarreau as a freshman over trouble maker, undersized, limited Marcus Foster. Those are just the in state guys. LSU still heavily after a few absolute stud guards in 2016.
You get a guy like Foster as a key player for 2016 and you're looking at fringe NCAA Tournament again. Why would you want the program to take a step back?
Now, NWG is a different story as a 6'3 PG but if he's that much of a trouble maker... what makes you think sitting a year out gonna make him better?
