Trolling Motor Battery Group Size

I'll be installing a 70lb thrust MK on my 18-ft bay boat. The old motor was only 12V, and I used a group 27 battery. I'm not sure that I can fit two group 27 batteries under my console and haven't had the chance to measure. Is using two group 24 deep cycle batteries for that motor even an option, or will I just be throwing away my money on 2-hr battery life? TIA

Buy two gel group 24s and you should have plenty of life...gonna cost you though.

Just get size 27 regular batteries keep plugged in to onboard charger...i have the minn Kota 70 lb thrust on my xpress bay boat..keep em charged and they will last. I got almost 4 years out of my last ones. i bought ever start 80$ batteries. I'll see how they hold up.
