Have a friend in from out of town who wants good Mexican food. We were thinking about checking this place out tomorrow night after few people recommended it. Thoughts? Any recommended dishes?

It's good not great, and don't go in expecting Tex Mex. Their guacamole was quite good and I thought the tacos (save the beef tongue) were solid. The mole was decent at best, found it a little bland to be honest. The atmosphere can be a bit dodgy at times depending on when you go. When I went we were one of 2 tables @ 7p. Pretty lackluster. Also tried 2 times before that to dine there but was turned away due to it being closed for some events.

It's good. I've heard the molè is really good but I haven't had that.

I agree with all of this. The margaritas are very good though.

Borrega is a pretty good option in a weak Mexican town.
If you're ready to spend a little jack and get some real Mexican, head over to Canal St. Bistro.

+1
Food is high quality but also high dollar.
