The underlings never get this. shite may trickle down but we take the brunt of it. I purposely left my assistants out in the wind when I went to DC so they could get the full brunt of it. They learned that day . Just recently one made the comment how I leave at 4 most days. Took him to a corporate meeting and introduced him to my nightly homework. Offered to let him take care of it and I'll stay a bit later. I get a cheerful have a nice day now.

He has my number and I will be checking in. I also left a 6 page detailed list of what to do and how to do it. I've prepared pretty well for this, but I still worry lol

Omg not the jeep. That pos is/was her pride and joy. Thank god her hubby still has one. In all honesty I'm glad she's ok and that pos held up. Get a Volvo nurse. Please.

I don't consider taking a phone call or answering an email work though.

I travel for work every week. I realized a while back that my company existed before me and it will exist long after me.
My work pays me to be a leader and to provide solutions. They don't pay me nearly enough to add stress to my list of responsibilities.

But it's not like I'm getting worried about people's groceries not getting sacked. I've got numbers I have to hit
Numbers are important, but so is giving yourself time to decompress.

so in other words, you really have no responsibility.
The company will still run business as usual even if you turn your phone off for 2 weeks?
I hope you be like you one day

I have no desire to be stressing about work all of the time. I work some overtime and some weekends but most of the time, when work is done, I switch to a totally different mode.

It all depends on the industry you're in.
My industry is 24/7 365...I have to be accessible 80% of the time...the other 20% I'm covered.
I dont stress, I just have to make sure I give my clients the answers and attention they need no matter what time of day it is.

That may be true but in my experience it is the personnel.
The employees I had at the previous company I managed gave me fits but the guys at the one I am now allow me to set and forget. Both in the same industry. TH's co workers suck!

I know. If I am out of town and I get a call closing a deal I am gonna party even more, why wouldn't I answer?

You couldnt put the order in ahead of time with requesting the normal delivery day?

Growing up, I always felt bad for my dad. So much stress with his job, and he must always be available. Dude would have to make thirty minute phone calls from the mountain during ski trips.

no, that vendor is very strict about order times and deadlines. plus my rep with the company is a count and I don't want to deal with her more than I have to.
I'm just going to text/call in and make sure he's getting it done.

I used to. But now
I don't even have my work email on my phone.
