LA 5th Congressional District: Mrs. McAllister

New TV ad supposedly airing today with Vance and his wife.
LINK /
McAllister is not on friendly terms with the State GOP and many conservative/Republican activists in Louisiana. And maybe there's some good reasons, like his support of Medicaid Expansion.
However, after this commercial, if those same people within GOP circles who also support Vitter go outside of the real issues and continue to try and beat up McAllister over Kissing Gate, then they're just being hypocrites.
Mrs. Vitter forgave her husband for running around with prostitutes. Now McAllister's wife forgives her husband for kissing his best friend's wife.
quote:
His wife, Kelly McAllister addresses the camera, adding, “But a man’s character is based on how many times he gets back up and stands again.”
Offering the forgiveness that probably matters most, she also says, “I’m blessed to have a husband who owns up to his mistakes, never gives up, always fighting for the good people of Louisiana.”

Looks like he was "getting up" well enough to have an affair with a close friend's wife. Does that count?

There is a huge difference in situations... Also Mrs. Vitter didn't make a political ad using the situation begging for votes.

You make some good points, but let's face it: minus the duck dynasty endorsement, there is no way he is a US Congressman. He simply does not have the chops.
I thought that before any of the kissing congressman nonsense; and the wife's ad does nothing to dissuade me.
The 5th district are doing themselves a disservice if they send him back.

Agree. I'm hoping one of the other GOP candidates is elected. But he and Vitter's situations on the morality and cheating problems and forgiveness from their wives.

Well they sure did the rest of the taxpayers a disservice by continuing to send Mr. Porkulous back to D.C. for so many years.

Do you not recognize the difference?

Govt. law - call a person a racist name, go to jail.
Man's law - go next door, poke the neighbor's wife, go back home, enjoy your sleep

the only reason he got elected is because he got all the blacks and Democrats to get out and vote for him

One is sorry because they were caught... the other made amends with wife and God years before the incident became public.
I give props to the man who realized he wronged his wife and had the moral fortitude to face his wife and confess. Also there is no evidence Vitter was cheating for years but in fact it occurred for a very short period of time.

and McAllister could still be cheating on his wife if he wasn't caught

I don't think you get to enjoy your sleep when discovery usually results in one getting killed in their sleep.

I can see that. I'm still not good with Vitter's infidelity and will continue to not vote for him because of it.

Vitter's stuff was pretty well known in even barely-connected political circles. Just no one had any proof.
Or at least anyone willing to go public with it.

Damn dude which is it? It was public or not.
He confessed 7yrs before going public= general knowledg= pretty well known. He had a short period of screwing around realized he was screwing up and confessed to the people it affected most. What more do you want from a man or any man.
You don't like the guy.. fine don't vote for him but don't put him on the same level of a McCallister, or a Clinton.

He's a dumbass. That's his biggest problem.

You like to make assumptions.
1 - Of the declared candidates for Governor, he's the one whom I seem to agree with politically the most, so I might favor him.
2 - Unless Vitter has used his power to practically force women to perform sexual favors, then I won't put him as high on the personal scumbag level as Clinton.
But I will still contend that if someone who plans on voting for Vitter for Governor uses the whole cheating thing as an issue against McAllister, they're being hypocrites.
