Winterizing Southern Lawn- Questions

Moved into a brand new house in June, fertilized the lawn with high nitrogen this summer. From reading the LSU AgCenter, it appears that the normal winterizer fertilizers such as Scotts Winterguard isn't the best for Southern lawns. They recommend high potash if you haven't used much in your fertilizer regimen or did really high nitrogen. So I guess my questions are this.
1. If you do fertilize in fall, what do you buy?
2. When do you apply it? The recommendation is mid-fall, is that early to mid October for us?
Thanks.

It's fricking grass. Unless you're playing football on it, let it die and grow back

Of course you would say that, you're a fricking pirate. You are at sea nearly the entire year. People who spend their time on land actually want a nice lawn.

Since it's a new place, you should take a soil sample to really know what kind of fertilization you need going forward. It'll cost you like $10 to get it analyzed probably.

Just be glad you live in a place with st aug grass. I'm having to aerate and seed now with fescue, and it sucks. I would just wait until spring to mess with your yard b
