I see he is listed at 6'2" and 228 lbs. That is huge for a high school wr. Do you think he stays at wr or changes postions. He has not even been Moffitized yet.

He seems like the perfect H-Back/Tight End IMO.

Julio Jones was 220 lbs in college so i dont see a real issue.

Antwan Goodley for Baylor is like 5'11" 220 and he's an all-american. Anquan Boldin had a similar frame as well.
The key is using the weight/strength to your advantage. If Upchurch figures out how to use his body well and shield the defender away with his huge frame, he'll be a dangerous possession receiver.

Not every 6'3 220 receiver is the next Julio Jones or Calvin Johnson -- most human beings aren't that physically gifted.

I like to think of him as a Marcel Reece type of talent. Bulk him up to 240 and let him play that hybrid position.
He played RB and WR in high school and could easily play RB for us in a pinch.

Let's just say, If you have not seen this Upchurch play in person, don't count him out about being as good as Julio.
Upchurh is a beast and he is committed to excel on each play... Inside the Red Zone, he will be money for us.
He will be a huge sleeper for us if he is developed correctly which I believe and hope we will do..

Where Upchurch will excel is as "slot" back. He will the same position as the slot receiver but because of his ability to run the run the ball and block as well as be an excellent pass receiver will be used to add a lot of versatility to the offense. He did all these things in HS. He would also add pass, run, block ability to the HB position. His ability to run the ball and break tackles as a RB does really adds to the offenses versatility wherever he is. It is difficult to prepare defensively for a wildcard at any position.
This was the way he was used in HS. His HS coach said that all their opponents keyed their defenses to stop him his senior year. This made space for a lot of other skill players on his team. He indicated he was far more valuable then the yards he actually made.He actually played the the split end, the slot receiver, RB and a few times TE and QB. He ran the ball frequently from the slot.

This is complete delusional homerism, I'm sorry.

He will play WR. He will play the more physical roles that our WRs are asked to do.
I don't understand this h-back stuff. To my knowledge, it is a seldom used position, and I don't ever remember LSU using one.

Sometimes it is hard to convery wht you mean in text.
What I really mean is, if Upchurch is developed he can have the same kind of impact on a game, maybe not the same exact way that Juilo did, but the same kind of impact for the team.
This kid played against some very good HS talent and excelled. Don't discount the value he can bring.
In watching the replay of the Georgia game, We did not take full advantage of Boones ability during his stay at LSU. Lets not do that with this guy.

I think fullback is in his future.

That would be a huge waste...I doubt he would have come here for that outcome.
You guys think what you want, but he is strong like Landry was.
