The Roots live is phenomenal. I saw them in Denver in '09 i think it was and then they replaced the Flaming Lips at Hangout one of the first years. Probably the best replacement they ever could've done. I was so glad they replaced the terrible live act that is the flaming lips with The Roots. They put on a great show

I love the roots, seen them a bunch of times live. Best live hip hop act maybe ever and a completely underrated band historically imo.

Even though they have gone Platinum, I agree. I missed out in them the last couple of times they came to New Orleans unfortunately.

Sucks they played essence this year. A proper 2 hour long roots show is the shite.

If we can line up a babysitter, we're going with a big group of our friends. What are the other acts there this weekend? I know the Roots go on later but we were planning on eating an early dinner then getting there around 7. Railroad park is a great place for this. Big wide open spaces. I've been by there before (I jog/run there regularly) when they were setting up for other events and it should be well organized.

They were AWESOME!!! Played about a 2 hr set...mostly older songs from phrenology and the like

Even my work friend I went with who is a heavy metal fan mostly was thoroughly impressed by their musicality and skill with each instrument

It was the best "FREE" show either of us has ever seen we both agreed
