The best thing we did that game was not allow any big plays. We gave them 3-5 yards pretty much every play until Auburn made a mistake. That happens when you don't give up any big plays.

Marshall threw some pretty terrible deep balls that game.

Go watch their scoring drives...most had one big pass play...deep throw to whoever Mills was guarding and let's be honest, who didn't use and abuse him last year?

That's really not fair to Mills. Sammy Coates made two really big catches, one against Mills and one against White. Mills had an interception and played well, and White was super close to a pick6 and made a bunch of really great plays. The secondary looked great, but was beat on two really good plays by the receiver. Those two catches and a bubble screen in the perfect situation accounted for most of their pass yards.

I'm excited to see White play again this year. I failed to realize how big he was for a freshman. He tackles so well and takes great position on almost every play. He and Mills both play a little bigger than they are, tackle like bosses, and have good speed (though White plays a bit faster). Hopefully Mills clears up his legal issues and can earn his way back.

Looking at the replay, I was surprised at how well Welter played compared to Louis. Louis was better at soaking up an olineman, but Welter did better on passing downs and handling the read option. Both made some good plays, missed some tackles, and got out of position on interior runs from time-to-time. Welter's only real weaknesses in the game were taking a few horrible angles in pursuit (esp. early in the game) and being a little timid to enter the fray in some of the runs up the middle (again, this was worse earlier in the game).

true, also if the game had been played in the Bahamas they likely would have won as well, or if LSU would have been forced to play the second half wearing work boots...

I disagree. They started off slow and fell way behind early but by the second half they had our defense figured out. They just ran out of time. If the game had been five quarters I think they would have won.

This is the mantra of the Negatiger. We win by 14, fumbled inside their 15 yard line, tried a fake field goal (unsuccessful) inside their 20 yard line and this poster says Auburn would have beaten us. LSU and Auburn could have played 8 quarters that night and Auburn would have lost by 28 points. We owned them. Hill was unstoppable. We were toying with them all night. After that game, Auburn got better, but they were 3 plays away from a 4 loss season. You have to get the bounces of the football to get to the BCS game. Auburn did that last year, but their defense is horrible.

When we get the bounces, it is called luck. If other teams get the bounces, our fans say they were playing better.

I just never understand the Negatiger.

if saban was coaching us and the game was the same he would've been lauded for a great job gameplanning.

but since it's miles and chavis, i guess it was the rain that somehow they played in but we didn't.

seriously, everyone can GFT

So freaking true. We will match up really well against their offense, once again.

We'll win the game if Jennings/Harris don't melt during their first major road trip. I've been to Jordan-Hare quite a few times, and it's really loud

If, if, if. Get over it. We were the only team to beat and DOMINATE Auburn last year. Rain, dew or sunshine we handed them their rear ends.

As others have posted they were a few plays away from having a mediocre season. They almost lost the SEC Championship as well. Good year for them but LSU won that game period.

If LSU makes one more first down in Tiger Stadium against Bama in 2012 we beat them and who knows where we end up. Bottom line is we didn't and that's that.

Auburn is the sexy pick right now but the same thing happened with Chizik and where is he today?

Give LSU the credit our players and coaches deserve
