Better way to shop online

I'm sure that a lot of people are doing this already, but for the people not using a cashback site, you should really take a look at one. Some of the big ones are topcashback, fatwallet, and ebates. They each have their benefits, but I just use ebates because at the time I started it seemed like the best overall one. That could be differnt today. Also sometimes they will have some better deals for the same stores, so the some people use them all. Here are some examples.
Amazon up to 3%
Macy's 6%
Hotels.com 3.5%
IHG hotels 4.5%
Marriot 2.5%
Hyatt 2.5%
Dollar rent a car 3.5%
Alamo rent a car 2.5%
Orbitz up to 6.5%
Walmart 1%
New Balance 10%
Sears 6%
Lenevo 5%
Cabela's 4%
Sport's Authority 6%
Sprint up to $125.00
Verizon up to $117.50
Att&t wiireless up to $155.00
You get the idea, there's probably a thousand other stores listed. You just sign up with one of cashback sites and shop as you normally would. Before you make a purchase just login to the your cashback site of choice and make your purchase from the store that you want to linked from your cashback sites page. Prices, shipping, best rate guarantees and everything is the same because you are making the purchase from that actual store's website and not the cashback site. The cash back site will track your purchase through the referral link and they will pay you the cash back directly. It's a no brainer and can't lose on things you are buying anyway. It can really start adding up if you travel alot.

evreward.com or cashaholic.com will get you the best cashback from any reputable site (sometimes ebates, sometimes not).

Why are they doing this? What is in it for them?

I may look at others again, but I'm not into enough to check every site for current rates for every purchase. Since I'm only using one, it seemed like they had the most affiliates and a very good reputation. People have had problems getting paid with some of the smaller ones.

I think it's kind of like a lot of internet advertising. Websites pay for traffic and purchases. These guys take a small cut off of that for profit and give the rest to their members so that everyone gets a little something.

I don't see why you couldn't if you make online purchases with that card. The cash back will go to your paypal account. You still make hotel reservations and purchases the same way through whatever site you usually use.
