If someone does have a hidden hole in city limits, they darn sure aren't gonna share it on here.
If you don't mind the drive, I've always caught at Old River by Morganza. Right now the water is still a little too high and rising but once it gets around 19' we tear em up on some shiners. You can fish off any of the public landings there (Bonanza, Old River Landing etc.)
If you aren't set on Sac Au Lait, take him to False River and drop some crickets in. The bream were biting good this past weekend.

If your looking for somewhere in the city that's good for a kid you can try sharp road park. There's access to a small tributary all the way to the back left. Ill go once in a while and grab a handful off the bank. Very shallow and kid friendly I would think. Watch for snakes.
Eta: you can walk through at either point I marked, then follow the creek all the way from goodwood to mollylea along the bank.

I suspect he'll be trespassing if he does this.

That's a servitude not private property.

That's what I thought, I'll double check but you'll definitely be safe between the boundaries of the park

This, if it's anything like Dawson's Creek. I hope he's not eating what he catches.
