I have some home grown rice and would like to try if it isn't too difficult.

There are kits you have to buy to get the necessary bacteria. Not expensive though. Never have tried it. It is fairly labor intensive if I remember correctly

Check out Austin home brew they have some sake kits I am pretty sure, would be cool to make your own if it turns out good
