Fallout 3 Mods

Everyone that has played Fallout 3 on pc knows it's a mess. I've decided to try my hand at modding. So far, I've done the following:
Installed FOSE
Patched it to use 4 GB of RAM
Installed the unofficial patch from Nexus Mods
Installed FOMM
Ran FO3Edit and created a merged patch
Installed NMC texture pack
I am not sure I've set my plug-in load sequence correctly (I'm getting some minor stuttering infrequently). My question stems from using FO3Edit to create the merged patch. Does the merged patch supercede the Nexus unofficial patch? If so, can I exclude the unofficial patch from the load sequence.
Is there anything else I can do to make my Fallout 3 experience more amazing? It's super sweet at the moment, but I can deal with it being superer sweet.

got fallout 3 a year or two ago in a steam sale. finally found time to play it a couple months ago. figuring out how to get it to work properly is one of my greatest achievements in gaming this year and probably last year.

What did you do differently from what I've done?

I spent about 4 hours trying this on Sunday, thankfully (Finals coming up) I couldn't get it working.

Moving games on steam can be tough, I wish it was easier.

I really didn't have any problems. My only concern is about FO3Edit's merge patch conflicting with the unofficial patch. I'm sure I could find something on the web, but I don't feel like it at the moment.

There was no patch for Windows 7 and they refused to make one.
I found a fix for it by googling it. Had to rewrite a couple lines of code, and felt like I was hacking into war games, but it worked perfectly afterwards.
Can't wait till my computer becomes sentient and kills me in my sleep.

Looks like what I did covers all of that and then some.
