He is white though and we know how well that goes over on the Rant.

I'm sure the Welter comparisons will make a strong showing.

Being white doesn't help, but it comes down to how fluid his hips are, can be shed SEC-caliber blockers and can he roam sideline to sideline? Look in the league 3 of the best MLB are white granted 2 of them can't stay healthy...

Just scour the SE and Texas while looking everywhere for the top guys. Lots of quality LBs out there so just work and land a couple. We should be all over Malik Jefferson and should have been months ago. Not likely to get him but he's not the TAM lock most assume he is. Make him say no.

Finally, after seven replies, someone ACTUALLY answers the question.

Better yet, outside of Kwon can you name the last great or top lb we got out of the Southeast?

Going back as far as 2004, and based on their recruiting rankings (Rivals - because it is easy to look them up), nationally at the position:

2004 Luke Sanders (West Monroe) and Matt Stoltz (Arkansas) were top 15 linebackers (no, really)

2005 Darry Beckwith (Parkview Baptist) was top 10

2006 Derrick Odom (Mississippi) - was top 10 - the lesser regarded players from that class did better (yes, Riley and Sheppard)

2008 Ryan Baker (Florida) was top 10

2009 Mingo (West Monroe) and Minter (Georgia)

2012 Other than Kwon, Lorenzo Phillips (Patterson) was top 30 (but a 4*, and top 12 player in the state)

Those two you linked are both legit. Only Ashmar Bilal has the elite SEC speed. Did you see him house that kick return

Maybe with our recent success in Illinois we can get a visit from him. Hope he's on LSU's radar.

, Lorenzo Phillips
people were shitting a brick cus they thought wed lose him to uf. He's no longer at LSU. To me our best backers under miles haven't always been the highest rated ones.

Mississippi always puts out talent. I would bet that next to louisiana they are right up there with putting out NFL talent per capita. Ms is what La was 3 or 4 years ago. The word is out on Louisiana recruits. Everyone know that there are hidden gems. Mississippi is still relatively untapped with the major schools. A few good linebackers that have come out of Ms off the top of my head in the last few years in channing Ward and the linebacker from Long Beach High a few years ago could be special if they were on a worth a shite team and Lee Lewis is a special player this year. I believe there is a lot of talent in Mississippi it just isn't developed the way it is in Louisiana. The coaching here is better period IMO. But Mississippi is right next door and a potential market for solid Lbers each year.
