It's hard to argue with any of the points made in this article. The more I think about it, has the Obama administration done anything correctly in terms of foreign policy? Here are some of the highlights.

quote:

• Iran is closer than ever to a nuclear weapon. Mr. Obama weakened economic sanctions as a gesture of goodwill, so now the mullahs have the money to finish the job.

• Saudi Arabia is so angered by Mr. Obama’s appeasement of Iran it refused a seat on the U.N. Security Council; so frightened by it the Saudis are talking quietly with the Israelis about joint military action.

• In what had been our foremost Arab ally, Egypt, the president’s dalliance with the Muslim Brotherhood has alienated both the military and the people.

• Mr. Obama waged war of dubious legality to oust Moammar Gadhafi in Libya, an evil, mean, nasty, rotten guy, but not, since 2005, a threat to the United States. (He gave up his nuclear weapons program because he was afraid what happened to Saddam Hussein might happen to him.) In the chaotic aftermath, al-Qaida has established a stronghold there. An al-Qaida affiliate murdered U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

• Seventy percent of the 2,313 Americans killed in Afghanistan died after President Obama escalated the war. They died in vain. The Taliban is expected to take over when U.S. troops leave.

• The fighting in Iraq was over when Barack Obama took the oath of office. His inept diplomacy and premature withdrawal of all U.S. troops permitted an al-Qaida resurgence there.

• Worldwide, al-Qaida is as great a threat today as it was in 2001, the director of national intelligence told Congress last month.

But Obama was going to make the world love us again.

Hardly a surprise Obama's foreign policy is a clusterfrick; the man's delusional ideology and complete lack of experience almost insured it.

Might be the best fighting force in the world. They have run out both the Russians and Americans out of Afghanistan.

You mean to tell me, a "community organizer" with no experience in anything is not making a good president? Why did he get elected?

This is what galls me about the average politician and voter. They really think this should matter to us.

Does anyone here think Vlad Putin, and the Russians in general (or the Chinese, Iranians, or Norks) give a flying frick if they are "loved" by the rest of the world?

Hell no. The Russians take and do what they want when it is in their national interest, and to hell with the rest of the world.

We (the US) try to appease every single minority group that blubbers about not being treated fairly, whether it's the Palestinians, the Mexicans, or even many of our so-called allies.

Our politicians can't grasp that strength and the will to use that strength is how you obtain respect, if not friendship.

Well, pretty good summary. It hoes back to 2009 when Dems wanted to spite the Bush Missile Defense shield efforts geared toward Iran but hated by Russia. From there on, they knew they had us.

Would have been nice if we had insured it. We could have at least recouped some of our financial losses.

Yet liberals everywhere look at Hillary Clinton's stint as Secretary of State as an overwhelming success.

Incredible, really.
