Shooting Tie Plates

Anyone here shoot railroad tie plates? Found one today and heard they are OK for shooting. Soft but will work. Keeping a distance and making sure it swings is what I hear helps for, if any, ricochets. I may set it out at 200-300 yds and give it a try.
Technically the RR owns the plates no matter how you find them in the RR right of way, on the rocks or sunk in the mud.
Anyhow here is a pic of what one is. Some people like them, some do not.

Id shoot them as well, I wouldnt expect them to last if you are shooting them with a high powered rifle though.
I bet with a pistol theyll last forever.

I've shot one with a 300 win mag and it barely dented it.

I'll see if I can find a few more and test them out at the camp next time I go up
