Word is now that it's Les Koennig, the OC at stellar Mississippi State, formerly Fran's OC at A&M during Dennis' wonderful tenure in College Station where he and Fran's braintrust destroyed Reggie McNeal and Stephen McGee by turning them into option QBs and running short side again and again and again!
You guys better f****** hope this is just another rumor.

Freaking Texans being Texans......
I've come to learn over the years that this is more true than it should be. The state of Texas confuses the frick out of me at times.
As for Strong... I think a lot of the flack he's taken from boosters and/or angry fans who thought 'we coulda done better!' don't understand how well respected Strong is here in the SEC. Boosters and fans wanted Saban (the equivalent of the all too common cry of 'Gruuuuuuden!' that pops up every time a fanbase wants rid of its current coach and grows to a fevered pitch should their coach get fired and during coaching) because they knew Saban as a name brand with a lot of media exposure. His titles were important, sure, but even without them he like Gruden would be demanded, begged for, and/or rumored to arrive any second for the sole reason that fans know who they are.
Most fans and boosters are casual fans that don't follow much beyond their own team. They make their wishlists from coaches mostly from the 'who's on tv, popular, currently in the spotlight due to winning,' and don't much dig beyond that. Strong is very respected in the SEC for his work in the conference as well as for what he's done at Louisville - he's a wishlist coach for a lot of us - but Texas fans don't know who he is and those who wanted a 'brand name' (and by name brand fans often mean "someone I've heard of" rather someone who those within CFB coaching circles know and respect).
Boosters are the same. They are simply fans with more dollars than sense.

The actual rumor is that he's coming in as WR coach.
ETA - unless Watson goes to the NFL, then I suppose Koennig is a possible passing game coordinator.

So what I'm getting out of all of this is that we're going to have a kickass defense and be average at best on offense since idk who the frick is going to be calling the plays. Best case scenario is that the offense turns into some sort of hybrid between Okie St and Miss St's O and worse case scenario is that pile of shite that Watson trotted out at Nebraska. I truly have no idea what we're going to have in terms of an offensive scheme
