Game Winner vs UNC in College

Look at that body language vs the body language tonight. That kid in that video would have ran over to Roberts, punched him in the face, and jacked the ball to take the last shot.

It's sickening.

Want to know what's changed? Look no further than the 5 minute mark in tonight's game. He turns the ball over once despite being a big part of our 4th quarter and Monty instantly pulls him.

Monty didn't coach a bad game tonight and I'm not blaming the loss on him. However, this is just one of many examples of his long term failures as a coach.

I'm not sure whether Rivers is being professional or simply beaten down at this point. Damn I'm pissed. I wanted this game.

Side note: The Mavs radio announcers said Ellis got a little hand and a lot of ball. Must be nice.

At the time I assumed the substitution was for 2 reasons. 1, assuming the turnover was caused by fatigue and was giving him a quick breather. He'd been in awhile at that point. And 2, I believe it was about the 5 minute mark and Monty's substitution timer dinged.

I'm legitimately asking this question. If Gordon doesn't foul out do you honestly think Monty brings Rivers back in for Roberts?

I'm 99% certain I know the answer to that question personally.

Thats 2 games in a couple weeks the Mavs have won after hammering a guy trying to shoot a 3. Did the same thing to Kevin Love a few games back

Im sure we'll get the same worthless apology from the league that Minnesota got

Did Austin play a good game?

Probably not. But Roberts did have 8 assists and only 1 turnover. It's not like Roberts is completely ineffective, he just plays a style that many don't like in a PG. Jarrett Jack was actively hated by about half the board for being a selfish PG despite having a pretty decent assist rate.

The box score wouldn't show it, but I liked the way Austin played tonight vs the way he played last night.

More confident and in control in general. Less stupidity on defense. It really is maddening that Roberts is given every benefit of the doubt and Rivers is 1 mistake away from getting benched.

In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights our way.

Are you just playing Devil's Advocate here?

I don't want to turn this into a Rivers vs Roberts thread please.

I like AR more and more, he busts his arse all the time, he has to play through mistakes to learn.

Id rather see Rivers getting the minutes. But I think Roberts does so many things that make you say "how is he in the NBA" that it's easy to ignore the things he does right. He's not all bad, and I think Montys seat is hot and thinks Roberts gives him a better chance to win. I don't agree, but that's what I think is going on.

that was the Mavs too? I forgot who Love's uncalled foul was against

Dallas trying to become the Seattle of the NBA... do it b/c the refs can't/don't have desire to make that call

I can agree with this entire post. Monty is so incompetent he can't even understand how to save his own job. Starting Rivers and playing Miller/Withey/Ajinca more instead of seeing steady doses of Roberts/Morrow/Steimsma would appease a lot of the fan base more than the marginal upgrade at his chances of winning (still debatable) by playing the vets.

Seeing Rivers/Miller/Withey/Ajinca get better throughout the season and having the chance to improve to potentially serviceable NBA rotational players would actually give him something on his resume to point to in this rapidly failing season.

But this is one of my biggest gripes with Monty. I am not necessarily speaking of last night here, but he will often sub a player out for rotation's sake no matter how well he has been playing.
