Nice article with dates, numbers and potential targets.

quote:

3. 150 Percent plus $100,000 – Based on where the Pelicans are with relation to the cap, this is how much they can take back in a trade. For the trade to be legal, they can only take back up to 150% of their outgoing salaries, plus $100,000. So, if they trade Greg Stiemsma ($2.676 mil) and Al-Farouq Aminu ($3.749 mil), they can take back up to $9.7375 million dollars in salary. More on this later.

...5. 2016 – This is the earliest first round pick that the Pelicans can trade, as their 2014 1st rounder essentially belongs to Philadelphia. And the Pelicans do not own their 2014 or 2015 2nd round picks either. So, long story short, if picks are exchanged it will be more likely that the Pelicans are getting them than giving them.

...The Greg Stiemsma and Al-Farouq Aminu Package

Outgoing Salary: $6.425 million

Maximum Incoming Salary: $9.7375 million

...Possible Targets: Demar Derozen, Gerald Wallace, Caron Butler, Al Harrington, Glen Davis, JaVale McGee

...The Austin Rivers and/or Future Pick, and Expirings Package

Outgoing Salary: Up to 10+ million

Maximum Incoming Salary: Up to 15+ million

...Possible Targets: Wilson Chandler, Danilo Galinari, Zaza Pachulia, Luol Deng, Chris Copeland, Spencer Hawes, Anderson Varejao, Brandon Rush

...The Scraps for Scraps Package

Outgoing Salary: $1-3 million

Maximum Incoming Salary: $1.5-4.5 million

...Possible Targets: Chris Singleton, Jan Vesely, Jeff Taylor, Tyler Zeller, Ekpe Udoh, Jason Thompson

...The ‘Any of the Big Five’ Package

Sorry, I am not entertaining that today. While I would put the chances of a Gordon trade this year at 15% and Ryno at around 5%, I simply don’t think we see a move with any of these guys this year. Dell hasn’t been able to see what they can do together much yet, and in the few glimpses he has seen, the unit has been spectacular.

No way we can really dump Rivers/picks for Deng, Zaza, Hawes, etc.?

I would literally smurf my pantaloons if we pulled Derozen

That really depends. If Chicago is afraid of losing him for nothing and no one makes a big offer because they see Deng as a rental, then it's possible. I don't think the Pelicans make a quick trade on December 15 unless we are a facilitator in a multiteam deal or we throw the 2016 1st in the mix. Without that what we are willing to give up is pretty minimal and teams can get that any time, no need to rush into taking a bad offer unless you have a disgruntled player to move.

Why do we not have our 2015 first rounder?

Because back in the day the former owner of the Cavs almost ruined the franchise by over trading 1sts for marginal players so now there is a rule that keeps you from trading future 1sts in consecutive years. We still have our 2015 pick, we just can't trade it this year because we already traded our 2014.

Hell no. At least Stiemsma has had some good moments in the league and has theoretical value. Vesely does absolutely nothing.

I really can't see the Bulls dumping Deng.

quote:

Derrick Rose has real concerns these days, but those have nothing to do with returning from his latest round of major knee surgery. Rather, his concerns center on his team’s future makeup.

Rose has told several confidantes that he is worried that the Bulls will start to let the team hit the skids by allowing key players to leave via free agency, forcing him to go through a rebuilding program that he wants no part of.

“Derrick is worried that the Bulls are going to lose what they have,” said a league source. “He doesn’t want to go through rebuilding.”

If the Pelicans get him it would have to be part of some Gordon deal meant to appease Rose.

A) I doubt you've ever watched Jan really play.
B) Watching Steamer miss rebound after rebound with those brick hands is depressing. Steamer is a Center, but not a good one...
C) Vesely is only 23, hasn't gotten a lot of run behind Nene in Washington, and was a lottery pick 2 YEARS AGO. He's a perfect example of a guy who needs a change of scenery.

THIS ^^^^ can not be real.

Exhibit A for why the superstars in the NBA are out of touch with reality.

Dude isn't going to play in a dozen meaningful games in a 2 season + span and he's going to dictate what he wants them to do? F OFF.

My exact sentiments. "I'm not going to contribute anything to the team for two full seasons, but you better not start rebuilding"

23 isn't young and he sucks as much as Stiemsa.

His brother's comments pissed me off last year when he was out.
