Haven't been to game in many years, what are my chances of getting 3 real tickets outside the stadium and what will I pay (decent seats) for sunday night?

It's 2013. Use stubhub or ticket exchange

$300-600 for 100-300 level seats on stubhub, is that the going rate?

I would never feel comfortable buying tickets outside of the stadium.

It used to be cool to buy them. I wouldn't do it these days unless you feel confident sizing up the seller.

odd numbers are hard to get together.
I will say though, if you want the best price on outside the dome tickets. Walk around the area by the staircase over the train tracks by the dome. It is on the bridge with claibourne and goes to that area that people park for free at near Earhart. Another good place is to walk down Poydras towards North Galvez. Just keep three fingers up, generally avoid the guys on bikes, or with signs that say "I need tickets" (then try to sell you some) they are professional resellers. You want to get the tickets before they go on sale to them. So you have to walk further into the free parking areas. But you will definitely get the best possible prices on tickets doing this. It has been that way since my dad was bringing me to see $10 ticket games in the 90's. People who are season ticket holders are the ones most likely to even know about these parking places. So you are catching the people who are actually burdened with having tickets they don't need and didn't sell yet. Many times that means less than face.
It is not illegal to do this, you are not on dome property. You can get four then sell the unneeded one to the gentleman with the "I need tickets sign" he'll offer you $20 for it.
(they lowball hard, and get it too. "you're about to walk in with it") I've given tickets away before. Not to big games, but still. Dome tickets start at $25 face, so they always have "cheap" tickets out there in those lots.

The Saints and Pelicans have seen a significant increase in fans being turned away at the gates due to having counterfeit tickets or experiencing other ticket issues with secondary providers that result in fans being unable to enter games. So far, the Saints have seen an average of 100 fans per game turned away due to fraudulent tickets and other secondary ticket problems.
“We have seen a growing number of issues with tickets purchased on the street or online through secondary ticket sellers other than NFL Ticket Exchange,” said Michael Stanfield, senior vice president of sales for the Saints and Pelicans. “Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do for fans who have purchased counterfeit tickets or who have any problems, including lost or damaged tickets, with seats not purchased directly from the team or through NFL Ticket Exchange. Based on the demand we have for these games, we really want to urge fans to be careful and protect themselves from being disappointed or taken advantage of.”
While many of the fraudulent tickets sold may appear to be authentic, each legitimate ticket includes bar codes and other security features that cannot be duplicated. In order to protect their customers from theft or fraud, the Pelicans and Saints ticket offices are only able to assist those who purchase their tickets from the organizations directly or through NFL Ticket Exchange with any ticket problems they experience -including lost or stolen tickets.

If they really cared and weren't just after another buck, they would offer an easy way to check the validity of a ticket. One way to do that would be an APP to scan the barcode.

my dad had gotten fake tickets to a sugar bowl a fer years back.
But People parking their cars in the lots and walking to the game with extra tickets aren't all looking for a scam.
I do know it's easier now to fake them.
Hell you can post a picture of your ticket, I can then print out an old ticket from ticketmaster and photoshop in the right names and dates, then just enter in the barcodes.
Ge there early and you have someones ticket. Thats why I always tell people to take down their barcodes when I see tickets posted on facebook.
Another thing people do, is get a print out of a ticket and still have the original tickets, then sale the original tickets that no longer have functioning bar codes.
It is scarier now. But I was just saying that you still can get deals.
