Watched this for the first time in a long time this morning. What an excellent movie, definitely one of the great war films out there.

Using Japanese actors (as opposed to other Asians) and keeping it in Japanese adds that authenticity that takes it to the next level.

Clint Eastwood is a great director. I hope we are able to get a few more films from him before he leaves us.

I thought the book "So sad to die in battle" was very good. I don't remember being impressed overly much either way by the "Letters from Iwo Jima" book or by either movie. (I think they made of movie of each, didn't they?)

It was good. I enjoyed Flags of our Fathers much more.

Maybe it's my preference of the European front, but I just couldn't get into it. I need to give both this and FoOF another shot.

And I like the pacific theater better. Probably why I liked The Pacific over BoB.

I much prefer the Pacific theater movies over the European theater, but BOB was leaps and bounds over The Pacific.
