It's been mentioned before, but there must be something in the water in Miami. Has to have more serial killers than anywhere else on earth.

What if Deb actually shot Dexter instead of Laguerta and all of this is Dexter's coma dream. Finale Dexter comes out of a coma and realizes that he needs to die and kills himself.

I still think Hannah is working with the FBI is a possible outcome. I mean this chick just escaped form prison, no further explanation needed, come on

I lol'd at

I agree with the main sentiment here..seasons 1-4 were awesome, and Dexter was one of my favorite shows. But it's just gotten somewhat boring. Watching it now is almost like a chore.

Really then past few seasons weren't terrible but this current and last season is fricking awful. These writers fricked up something that could have been great.

Honestly I didn't even mind season 5 THAT much. I liked the Jordan Chase angle, but lumen was meh and the ending was just so anticlimatic and dull. Seasons 1-4 all ended with something that made me say "whoooaaaa!!!!!! holy crap I can't wait to keep watching" but if memory serves season 5 ends at like a beach cookout or something and that's it. Lame.

Season 6 definitley had potential, and I liked some of it, but the bad guy was just SO not creepy and the twist was already known by basically everyone.

Season 7 was pretty bland.

With Vogel they had a chance to really tell us about Dexter's past, and his father, and they fricked that up too.

I was exited when from the get-go we found out Vogel knew him and that she was responsible for "The Code." I was also excited when she seemed genuinely surprised that Dex seemed to have feelings...something he has been struggling with coming to terms with over the last few seasons. Dumped the Dark Passenger stuff, etc.

What I was HOPING FOR was that she would come to realize that she and Harry were wrong about Dex, and that while he was a troubled kid he was, in fact, NOT a psychopath/sociopath and that with their code they had turned him into a serial killer. That would have been interesting, and would have answered an number of things that have happened throughout the years. Now it looks like there will be yet another showdown with another serial killer and then some wrap up stuff and then curtains.

At this point I'm watching more out of habit than anything else.

they blew their load with season 2. Judging from the show, you would guess the Miami PD has a serial killer on the loose every 5 seconds, 25% of the population has anti social personality disorder and 100% of those people are serial killers.

It doesn't even treat psycopathy in a real way. Season 1 was very good...Season 2 was great, but there just wasn't anywhere to go from there.

I wanted to quit after season 3. I quit because of season 4. I got to where there were 2 episodes left and did not care. I know what happened and still don't care.

I'm in the middle of Season 6 and having to force myself to finish it.

The article in the OP is dead accurate with how I feel.

Although the wife and I find Deb's language to be funny. It's so cheesy and overdone, it makes it funny.

Jaime is the greatest nanny/housekeeper of all time. Her good friend dies and she is doing Dexters laundry the same night and watching Harrison till 4am!

I hope she gets paid well, but she probably does since Dexter has 2 apartments beach front in Miami with a nice boat.

Don't blame the writers. Dexter's sustainability was doomed from the start... given the premise there was only so much that could be done before it had to be ramped up into the absurd to have any hope of retaining interest.

I'm not so sure. To me the premise had/has numerous possibilities to evolve in different ways. For instance, Dexter could morph into a real life superhero/vigilante with the populace cheering him on while the police continue to try to solve the murder mysteries. Or Debra could rejoin the police force and the entire force could use Dexter's expertise to apprehend the culprits and when the court system fails invoke a star chamber vote to prosecute the criminals who fall through the cracks. There are tons of possible scenarios. Dexter could relocate and take a job with another police dept. with a completely new cast. Dexter could marry Hanna, or Deb or both and have a polygamous team or heck through in Dr. Vogel for good measure.
