So after you get the rebates it would be $210 a case plus shipping. That's not a good deal.

21 bucks a box, what does it normally go for, less?

You're forgetting shipping. It's normally 25 a box

It's $100 cheaper than MPW
Eta: I think 3.5's are normally about $30 per box

Roger's usually does free shipping on their steel shot.

Simmons has 3" for $160/case after rebates.

Actually comes out to 225$ a case. And it says free shipping. Not a bad deal. Macks lists at 252$ a case. So not much difference

Rogers has free shipping.
$249.99 per case (shipped) - $25 rebate = $224.99
You will not find 3 1/2" Hevi-Metal any cheaper...
These shells are expensive, I'm not trying to sugarcoat that fact. Most folks don't buy ammo by the case. Your average joe blow hunter will go to walmart or academy & buy 2 or 3 boxes as needed. If you shoot 3 1/2" shells you are gonna end up paying over $20 a box for the cheapest shells. Why not buy the best shells available online for the same price as the crap shells @ walmart? 3 1/2" Hevi-Metal is well over $30 a box + tax @ any store that carries it.
I have always wondered why people will spend $2000+ on a new shotgun & then buy the cheapest shells they can find for it.

Because the shells don't make that much of a difference.

Correct but I'll add
Because the shells don't make any difference, pattern your gun with what you shoot and make good shots. Ducks will cease to fly.

That's really not that great of a deal. I can get them for the same price at Academy.
And Hevi-Metal's work, but no better than Kents in my gun and they're 10 bucks more a box.

Please show me where Academy is selling 3 1/2" Hevi-Metal for $24.99 a box?
I found 3" 1 1/4oz. #6 Hevi-Metal for that price, not 3 1/2" shells... You gotta pay tax on that too if you go to Academy.

$32.99 per box @ Gander Mountain
$289.99 per case @ Cabelas
$35.99 per box @ Bass Pro

I will 100% agree that shells with the same specs made by different companies will be virtually the same & have very little difference in regard to steel shot shotgun ammo. A steel shot 3 1/2" 1 1/2oz. 1500 fps #4 made by Federal is going to be pretty much the same as a steel shot 3 1/2" 1 1/2oz. 1500 fps #4 made by Kent.
It's pretty clear that we all agree that we would love to be able to shoot lead @ waterfowl legally because lead shoots further & has a higher density than steel.
So having said that, Hevi-Metal is not regular steel shot! It's 1/2 Hevi-shot, 1/2 Steel. That is what makes it different from other rounds with the same specs. Hevi-Shot has a higher density than lead! This means it shoots further than lead & a whole hell of a lot further than steel!!!
Here is a c/p from Hevi-Shots website:
quote:
What is the density of the HEVI-Shot® in the new HEVI-Metal® load, total pellet count with 1 1/4 #3 shot?
quote:
The HEVI-Shot® pellets in this HEVI-Metal® load have a density close to 10 g/cc, or 28% denser than steel.

Not to mention, hevi metal is no better than regular steel shot.
I think they could rename Winchester xpert's, put them in a different box and sell them for $20/box. People would buy them and swear how great they shoot compared to regular steel shot.
