inspired by the "greatest throw" thread where JR threw off balance after shucking two sacks:

What's the background? Why was he released by the cardinals? he seemed to be doing well, numbers were pretty good:

quote:

Before the 2011 season, Doucet changed his number from 80 to 85 to symbolize a new start. He finished the 2011 season with 54 receptions, 689 yards and five touchdowns, all career highs, in his fourth NFL season. Which also included a couple long touchdown catches against Carolina (70 yards) and San Francisco (60 yards). On March 9, 2013, Doucet was released by the Arizona Cardinals.

Looks like he's working out with the seahawks:

any other info for the Early show?

REALLY wish the Saints would pick him up.

Not confident in our WRs after Colston and Moore and Early would be a very solid contributor in our O imo.

Larry Fitzgerald's dad said Early was dropping too many balls

It's because of his drops. He dropped something like 25% of the catchable balls he was targeted, which I think led the league among wr with at least 30 targets. This, along with injuries, made his performances extremely inconsistent. He's got the talent to end up somewhere still though

Thanks!

Nothing like getting dropped to add focus. Hope he ends up somewhere he can contribute.

He'll catch on with someone, but he's made $3.8 million in his first 5 years out of college. Still not a bad start to your life.

below average hands in college and way below average in the pros. i honestly think you are either born with good hands or not, it cannot be taught.

Possibly. Could be a good fit considering amendola's injury history and what they lost in the slot from last year. But if pats fans were annoyed with Welker's drops, they won't be happy with Early. For comparison to the stat I referenced earlier, I'm pretty sure Welker was 3rd or 4th on the list for highest drop percentage on catchable balls at like 11.5%, well under Doucet.

I think it's a lot like QB mechanics.

Some guys can concentrate and make themselves reliable pass catchers. For others, the light never comes on. I hope it does for Early.
