I have a 1 ton electric hoist that has seized and I'm trying to decide if I want to get it fixed or just buy another. We had to get another hoist fixed a couple years ago and the only place we could find was in Covington. I don't think thy wanted to deal with it because it took them 4 fricking months to get it back to us and I'm not gonna go back to them for this one.

Anyway, do y'all know of any shops that work on hoists or should I just give up on this 20+ year old hoist and get a new/newer used one?

So the motor is bad and the hardware is fine? Made of aluminum?

I can't see it being much more than the motor, gears or a couple bearings...you can always get an electric motor rebuilt...or change bearings etc...

Post some pictures...if you are feeling lazy, I may come pick it up and find a use for it...

Years ago my dad had a hoist at the old Battisttellas Marina down in Empire. Every now and then it would stop working and we would turn on the power and tap the motor casing with a hammer and it would start working again.
