Hawthorne just pronounces it 'Alec Box Stadium' because it sounds better and rolls off tongue better than saying 'Alex Box Stadium.'

DISLIKE.
Alex Box was an LSU letterman who died in WWII. When Stanley B. dies defending our country, I'll concede on renaming the field. Instead, he'll probably die at L'auberge in front of a slot machine.
Bertman was a great coach. He's got a street named after him. Now the field.
Waiting for LSU to be renamed Skip Bertman University.

renaming the field.
It was never named in the first place.
Without Skip's influence, college baseball would be as popular as college tennis.

I've never heard Skip to be a sentimental guy, but when he was told of the plans to name the field after him, he went to Alex Box's nephew & asked him if the family would be ok with it. The family told him that they were sure Alex would be just fine with it. Pretty classy on both parts, but Skip certainly did the right thing in the first place.

Not confused. The field and the stadium were all meant to be after Alex Box.
As stated in my post above, Skip's got a street named after him. That's plenty. Are they going to paint "Skip Bertman Field" somewhere on the grass or just refer to it as that?
naming vs. renaming. My mistake but it's just a matter of interpretation.
As far as the Box family goes, I wouldn't expect them to act the horse's arse and say that this naming of the field bothered them even if it did.
