I'd put Operation Flashpoint up there. At least the older one.

First person shooters and military simulators are not really 'war games' they are more arcade like. If that is what you are asking about then the Arma series is the way to go, if on the other hand you are looking for traditional war games, check out Matrix Games for all of your wargaming needs...

Never heard of it. Why wasn't it hyped up on the board?

No one wanted to step up and be outspoken about the game

Most realistic? America's Army.

Maybe the PC version. The XBOX version had a drill sergeant with his name on the LEFT pocket and "U.S. Army" on the RIGHT pocket.

If you want something really sim-like (as far as single player) on console, try both Operation Flashpoint games, Dragon Rising and Red River. The main difference is that Red River dumbs down the difficulty of Dragon Rising and allows you to select your kit and customize your weapons before a mission.

A little more arcadey, but still good is the first Medal of Honor (2010) single player.

If all you are wanting is single player, it would be dumb to get Battlefield 3 since the multiplayer is the meat of the game.

I don't play on PC, but I think the Arma games are really good sims from what I've heard.

Hope that helps.
