I know I started a thread earlier on this, but this week are the district meets in Louisiana, meaning kids have been training to "peak" in these next three weeks.

With newspapers sort of falling apart these days, results have been hard to get. I saw a tweet (can't find it now, off hand, saw it last night) that Trey Quinn ran a 10.4 100 (hand-timed, it said) at the 3-5A meet.

Can anybody verify this? I can't find meet results anywhere from that meet. Both the Lake Charles and Lafayette papers have crappy websites.

I did see Leonard Fournette ran a 10.92 at his district meet, also a 22.15 200. That was a slow meet and I can't vouch for the quality of the track at Yenni, so I'm guessing Leonard can get to 10.7-10.8

Also, Garrett Brumfield 116-6 in the discus and 49-1 in the SP in his district meet

Anybody else see any other results? Brazil? Noil? Robinson in Florida?

I think sometimes the meets get done late and cannot get the results in fast enough, try tomorrow's paper.

LF running a 10.92 at over 200 lbs is insane, that guy is a freak!

Coursey,

The results you were looking for are in today's American Press, it looks like you were correct, a 10.40 hand time. I think as the weather gets warmer and kids are trying to peak as you say, we are seeing some good times. The key is getting to LSU for the state meet, as that is a fast track and the competition and crowd/atmosphere lead to some very good times!

I have not seen much on the others you mentioned. I think I read something where Brazil was focusing more on football training then track this spring. I think Noil is a long jumper and Dupre is a high jumper, and both are very good at their events!

Derrius Guice, sophomore RB at Catholic, ran 21.93 for 200m at their district meet.

Speedy Noil only placed second, jumping well shy of his personal best in the long jump, at his district meet. Was 5 feet shy of his best triple jump (41-x vs. 46-x) and did not qualify for the regional meet. Hope he is not injured.

One thing I learned with track is kids no longer try for their best times week in, week out. Their training is designed to peak them for selected meets, usually just the three weeks of district, regional and state meets.

I saw Tony Brown run a sub-14 second hurdles and a 10.4 100 at the Texas Relays. I wonder if he geared his training toward that meet, given how strong the meet is, or if he just showed up, saw the competition there, and turned it on.

On the other hand, Brazil wasn't really prepping much for track and was turning in some sub-par times for him. Now, I'd bet his times improve quite a bit as he gears up for the bigger meets.

Brazil has a legit shot of tearing shite up at the national championship meet in mid-June. Generally, track athletes can only hope to hold a peak for a month or so. He can dick around in the local meets, district, and regionals, show up big at state then crack some skulls in June.

No, it's not "insane". Bo Jackson ran a 10.1. Herschel Walker ran 10.4 or 10.2. John Riggins ran a 9.8 100 yd. dash.

Didn't Rashard Robinson recently run a 10.46?

All those were hand timed just as much BS as any other time. Those guys were power and speed personified. Based on their performances they were definitely extremely fast for their size.

Who said what is insane? Can't find any reference to any of this being insane.

Quinn's time is particularly impressive because 10.4s, even hand-timed, are rare.

A few more times: Corey McBride 10.72, Sione Palelei 10.91, Derrius Guice 10.92 at the same district meet

In the 200, Khalil Thomas went 21.83 and Guice 21.93.

That district was fairly stacked with sprinters.

Jazz Ferguson 22-5 1/4 in the long jump,

Anybody see a time for Brazil? How about Tre'Davious White? The Hammond paper has Brazil's district meet behind a paywall. The Shreveport Times site has nothing on Tre'Davious' meet.

Trey Quinn's meet was in the physical paper, but not the website. Wondering if the times put the 1-3A results in the paper, but not the website.

That was at a late February meet, which is really impressive.

From what I've seen his times since have been slower, like in the 10.7s (still very good times). But I haven't seen results for him in April. I would suspect they would be very good.
