Probably won't be available by the time we're willing to spend a pick on him.
This....if they used a pick on him before the 5th I personally wouldn't be happy.

I heard that Mathieu did a whopping 4 reps on the 225. That has to be low, even for a DB.

That's fricking pathetic for a collegiate athlete. One of my friends in college was a punter, and I'm sure he could do 4 reps.
Hell, I've done half of that, and I've never played a sport in my life.
He would get manhandled by NFL players. Do not want.

Just watched him run the 40 and you could immediately see how small physically he is compared to the other guys. His shoulder and arms are small, and I can see why he only got four reps. To me that is a big concern because he was more of a contact player at LSU and I don't think that play will translate to the NFL with his physical size and apparent lack of strength. I hope I am wrong for his sake.

Someone tell me how many reps Desean Jackson did at the NFL Combine. Mathieu is a returner and a nickel/dime corner... he tackles well and is a ferocious go getter on the field, he doesn't need to be the hulk.

I saw that yesterday myself. I have always been in the camp that Mathieu will not be good in the NFL, but I will take his defense just a little on this one. He will get absolutely destroyed in bump coverage, but this won't effect his coverage skills very much. As long as he isn't asked to do this, he will be fine; however, due to his poor coverage skills, this is just another example of why he will fail in the pros

none of the support network
Should we really be spending a draft pick on a player who needs a support system to be successful?

Desean Jackson's job is not to tackle NFL receivers, or box them out. In fact, DeSean Jackson's job is to make as little contact with other players as possible.

He won't be there in the 4th

It's not that he needs a support network. The point is nobody can say with any degree of certainty that he'd be better off getting as far away from LA as possible. That could just as easily be worse for him.
ETA: and I'm not saying the saints should draft him. I'm saying, for him personally.
