I think Payton's return will pay huge dividends with our 2nd year players who will have a full offseason and preseason to work with Payton AND Brees for the first time.

not to mention every single draft pick except Hicks went IR this year. We got a total of 24 game appearances out of Hicks and White. That was it. Add Romeus two years running.

Payton's return will light a fire able to be seen from space on players and coaches alike.

FIFY
I do not believe he will return quietly from the night.

It could aid more players when you consider there was no 2011 training-camp. This will be the first complete training camp with CSP and DB since 2010.

We are still talking about Romeus because he is still on the roster but just on IR. If you would have seen Greg play at Pitt you would understand why he is still being kept around.

I understand that he has had ACL tears in both knees but he's still really young with a huge upside. If he were an older player then he wouldn't still be around. Keeping Romeus around & giving him a chance to rebound from his injuries could play huge dividends for the defense.

As far as the OP, getting Payton back will help with the offense's struggles in the redzone, 3rd down & time of possession which killed the team during the first half of the season. It took Pete Carmicheal 8 weeks into the season to run a heavy or jumbo package with the run game. The offense was one dimensional & "soft" for much of the season. That just will not happen on Payton's watch.

I'm also anxious to see what Payton can do with a weapon like Joe Morgan. After struggling early in the season with hauling in passes, Morgan has shown he has outstanding hands in the second half of the season. His ability to snatch passes & make catches with his hands only on passes away from his body is something Robert Meachem & Devery Henderson never showed they were consistently capable of.
