Charley G's funny story

Went for dinner last night. As usual, it was great in all aspects. Well almost all aspects. When dinner was done I gave the waitress my debit card to pay the bill. It took a long time for her to come back. When she finally came back she informed me that my card was declined twice. I told her I am not sure how that is possible. Anyway, instead of making her try again I gave her my Amex and paid my bill. Once in my car, I called Capital One bank and asked about the decline. The lady from the bank said she sees the decline from Charley G's. I asked why it was declined and she said they entered the charge amount as $474,863.38. Well, I am not an OT baller and do not have a half million in my checking account. I called the manager and told him about this and he said he will look into it and call me. We shall see. I just thought it was a funny story.

Well, I had a gift card so I thought I should at least tip well.

We went to Charley G's for NYE last year. I was way disappointed with the food and the bar. The bar was being handled by college kids who had no idea how to make specialty drinks. The food was meh- except for that duck gumbo, so good
I used to work there awhile back, so I was bummed that the whole experience wasn't that great.

Oh, and my driver is in your avatar. You need some AP2s in your sig though. When I hit a drive left, I always say Yanky and I'm originally from Laffy. Haven't been to Charlie Gs in over 15 yrs though. Maybe we're brothers from another mother.

My wife had never been to Charley g's and I go about twice a month for lunch, so I thought I would take her. This was our first date night in a few months. Our next date night will probably be Vermilionville as she has never been there either.

Janky, I spoke with our general manager Saturday night regarding what happened & we are looking into it. We will be calling the point of sales system admin's this morning to see what happened. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Texas Tiger 05, I am sorry to hear we didn't meet your expectations last NYE. Having been an employee you know how seriously I take any and all feedback. Hearing from our guests is a great opportunity to get better. Can you please email me (ctg@charleygs.com) so I can hear more about your experience. With NYE approaching I want all of our guests to have the best dining experience with us. It is very important to me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Charlie Goodson, owner

Charlie, you've done a swell job in my book and have managed to create one of Lafayette's finest dining experiences. It's no secret, you can often find me tucked away in your bar throwing back toasty cocktails as the piano man plays me a tune. See you soon

Neither have I. I want to make sure everyone understands my original post was not meant to be any kind of negative review about the restaurant. I just thought it was a funny story more than anything. Thanks for the reply Charlie.
