Just walked out of the thicket and started feeding. Just my lucky day. Couldn't resist that "crab claw" g2 split.

Entry wound is right behind the left shoulder. His shoulder is raised a tad in the pic so you can't see it. No exit so he bled a frick ton internally, wasn't a fun gut. He was a smaller bodied deer though.

I shoot a Remington Model 7 .243

Lightweight, shorter barrel, shoots flat and accurate but isn't ideal for those 200+ yd shots. Has trouble exiting when quartering away though. I don't hunt fields much unless I wanna pop a doe so it gets the job done where I hunt. And I love it so that's all that matters. Gotta love your gun.

I have thought this many times. I just keep telling myself there is a 99% chance I would have never seen him again.

Congrats. Looks like a two year old buck. Woulda definitely been a nice one next year if he coulda survived the rest of the season.
