@ProFootballTalk: Doctors block QB Alex Smith from playing, per @mortreport LINK

What do you guys think, he plays? I think either way it will benefit us to face a backup or an Alex Smith who won't have played for 3 weeks

That's not really great news, simply because there's uncertainty in your game planning during the week. Regardless of who starts, we're gonna need pocket contain and to stay disciplined in our lanes and not over peruse runners.

Add in the awesomeness of the Dome and the crowd and this game is definitely winnable. As long as everyone does their job. Losing Charlie Brown will suck, but i think we'll be ok. Definitely means Ingram and PT will be in the backfield more than anyone else. Ingram is a good blocker. He'll be in alot.

I think he plays. Just this morning I saw a story on PFT that said he was "on track" to play tonight. So even though it isn't, seems like he'd be good in six more days.

I know he's not a true rookie, but the Saints record against rookie QBs scares me if they start Kaepernick on Sunday.

honestly I'm more afraid of Kaepernick than Smith anyway. I hope Smith plays.

He didn't play last week and he won't play this week. So I guess I meant 3rd game two weeks
