I'm looking to upgrade from the stock heatsink that came with the i72600k. It's not shabby but I'd like to keep the proc at cooler temps.

What do y'all roll with and recommend? TIA

Looking into it myself. A friend suggested I do it, although they run twice as much as a fan/heatsink and up.

I believe the one he told me to get was a Corsair. Liquid.

Yeah, budget isn't really a factor in this case.

I'm looking at the Corsair H80 or the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

A good air cooler is the way to go unless you are doing serious overclocking.

No, I don't really need to OC. Already play everything on max settings. I mainly want to increase system quality by longevity and protect the CPU.

A second fan? Is that really necessary?

And thanks for the input...I think I'm leaning towards the 212 Evo.

There's no point to an after market cooler if you're not overclocking, much less a high quality expensive one. With that said though, a good air cooler is Just as good, if not better than a closed loop cooler (and they're cheaper). I'd recommend the cooler master hyper 212 if you arent over clocking
