Not just a regular IT position but something in management and possibly telecommute? Pay commensurate with experience? I know, I know...asking a lot.

My husband has a B.S. in Computer Science, M.S. in Computer Science, and some doctoral work. He has >15 years of experience.

Just trying to help...

ETA: he doesn't want to program!

Um check FNC, they are based in Oxford but have some other campuses. Besides that why not talk to a recruiter?? If he really does have all of that experience people would be lineing up to hire him. But maybe not telecommute...

He has tried some recruiters but hasn't found anything suitable. The thing is he has a job so he can be somewhat picky. He wants a change from what he's doing now which is networking (& whatever else) in healthcare. I think he wants to be in more of the business world. Microsoft would be great but I hear it's extremely difficult to get on there.

Thanks for your response...will check it out!

It can be done but he'd need to be "known" for awhile first.

If he's willing to come to DC there are plenty of opportunities like that here with various contractors.

He doesn't have to stick with tech companies only. And he probably shouldn't since he has tight criteria

Does he want to stick with networking/infrastructure or is he wanting to do something else?

Well sure, and even then, you would probably be managing a bunch of contracted indians

He can stick with networking but is also looking for a possibility of dealing with customers. NOT customer service or help desk type of stuff but an account manager type of position. He is very, very good at solving problems and is relentless when he starts a project. Very willing to help...I used to work with him at the hospital and knew him as the "IT GUY" before he became my husband.

Yeah, in his case, I think that's fair. A lot f people have a tendency to lump all technology roles into "IT". Programmers for example aren't IT in my book.

I'm in an MIS/Analytical role and people call us IT all the time. Drives my boss nuts

Back to your husband, I used to work for a company that did revenue/costs management software implementation at hospitals. Based on why you said I could see your husband in an implementation consultant role.

I'd just tell him to keep an open mind.

Try Ultimate Software - LINK

They are based in Florida and are supposed to be a great company to work for with amazing benefits. They also let people telecommute...even mid to upper level managers.

Good luck
