I personally feel this is only area of concern for our Saints.

I know we picked up The kid out of Illinois.

Any FA talent?

How do you feel this unit will perform.

I love VIlma. SHanle os okay (Serviceable)

slow down hoss

Casillas coming back from injury and staying healthy could be huge for us. If he plays up to his preseason promise from last year, and the rookie can man the strong side we should be significantly faster than in the past few years. We'll probably go after someone in free agency. I think Rogers taking up space in the middle can be HUGE for our LB core.

This. But not only for our linebackers, Id say he can be huge for the whole defense.

He's only played 2 seasons, pretty sure he was healthy the whole rookie season, he just didn't see the field much with Payton preferring the vets in the SB run.

the upside for the defense when Casillas is on the field is pretty big. He can blitz effectively from the edge, and he can also cover backs coming out the backfield.

Wilson has the speed and athleticism to cover Tight Ends, just not the technique yet, but he at least has the speed an intangibles our current crop of SAM backers don't possess.

This. I made this point in another topic, Sean Payton had huge hopes for him last year and usually that guy is pretty spot on. I think the only thing that will prevent that from happening is the past injury. Other than that, he really could be huge.

where goats with the blues go...

-------------
LBs a lot younger and faster with Wilson and Casillias, definitely upgrade even if they need some learning curve.

Shanlee is UFA no matter how things go. I like him a lot as a backup- familiarity and can do both SLB & WLB. They won't offer him much but I dunno if anyone else would either.

Kawika Mitchell might have something left if he is past injuries. Or he might be done.

Danny Clark at minimum is an okay SLB run stopper

Maybe we'll get to see Arnoux this year

Bussey is a ST stud but hustled himself into a job at IL.

53 Arnoux, Stanley LB 6-0 232 24 3 Wake Forest

62 Butler, Ezra LB 6-2 248 26 1 Nevada

52 Casillas, Jonathan LB 6-1 227 23 3 Wisconsin

55 Clark, Danny LB 6-2 245 34 12 Illinois

56 Dunbar, Jo-Lonn LB 6-0 226 26 4 Boston College

54 Humber, Ramon LB 5-11 232 23 3 North Dakota State

94 Mitchell, Kawika LB 6-1 253 31 9 South Fl
50 Mitchell, Marvin LB 6-3 249 26 5 Tennessee

58 Shanle, Scott LB 6-2 245 31 9 Nebraska

51 Vilma, Jonathan LB 6-1 230 29 8 Miami (Fla.)
59 Waters, Anthony LB 6-3 238 26 4 Clemson

Humber might stick. Great on S.T.'s.
Waters and Arnoux are complete don't knows.
I think if motivated and healthy Kavika might earn a spot.

If Clarke gets a spot not so sure what that says about the quality of depth at L.B. for us.

Ezra Butler in da mix...

Jo-Lonn Dunbar

What's the story on him this year? Is he going to get some PT or will he be primarily a ST player?

DL: Smith Rogers/Ayodele Ellis Jordan/Brown

LBers: Casillas Vilma Shanle/Wilson

CB/S: Porter Sharper/Jenkins Harper Greer

Is this kind of the depth chart we will be seeing for the Saints this year?
