With Amundson Signing with the Warriors and the Hornets still looking for another bench PG and PF/C, do they sign the best of the unsigned, something like Earl Watson and Earl Barron? or maybe trade Songaila to Minny for Sebastian Telfair and Kosta Koufos?

I have to think how hard we went after Amundson means that Diogu is not healthy.

So I'm digging around D League sites like Ridiculous Upside trying to figure out who Demps could be going after and I run across this article about DLeague bigs the Hawks should go after since they didn't get Shaq. LINK One of the guys that seemed to potentially fit what we are looking for was:

quote:

Pops Mensah-Bonsu - I'm going to let Mark Deeks from ShamSports explain this one: "Mensah-Bonsu always sports a great rebounding rate, can get some points through sheer hustle and athleticism, and has a good handle for a power forward. He is prone to the occasional delusion of grandeur, but he causes turnovers, wins possessions, scores some baskets, grabs some rebounds, blocks some shots, runs the bejeezus out of the floor, and is disruptive around the basket. No team can have enough of that."

I start doing a little more looking on Pops and he's going to be signing with a team this week that according to his agent is "not in northwest division. Happy 4 Pops he deserves it after huge summer" LINK

Obviously that only narrows it down to 25 teams, but he looks like a 6'9 hustle guy, Indy was allegedly never serious about Amundson (didn't have roster space), which means I think there's a good chance Demps just found his Mustafa Shakur for the front court.

Just found a Demps connection so I think we can now BOOK IT!

quote:

In February 2009, Mensah-Bonsu began playing with the Austin Toros, the San Antonio Spurs NBA D-League affiliate.[4] In his eight games with the Toros, Mensah-Bonsu averaged 26.6 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. On 25 February, he signed a 10 day contract with the San Antonio Spurs.[5] On 4 March 2009 the Spurs released Mensah-Bonsu.[6]

"On 21 August 2009, Mensah-Bonsu verbally agreed to a deal to join the Houston Rockets for the 2009-10 season to provide frontcourt depth after the injury to Yao Ming. The signing was made official on 3 September 2009. On 13 November Mensah-Bonsu was released from his Houston Rockets contract"

Rockets connection from Gerald Madkins too. Would be a good pickup imo

"Madkins comes to the Hornets from division rival Houston, where he worked for the past two seasons as the team's Director of Scouting."

Here are highlights of him with the Rockets last season. LINK Highlights don't tell the whole story but I think I like Pops better than Amundson. It's funny how things work out, Pops wasn't available until just this week when a team in Spain did to him what we did to Luther Head. LINK
