Kelly's got guts. He could easily have stayed at ND and been comfortable. Contrast him with Lincoln Riley who you all wanted. Riley ran from the SEC, Kelly is taking it head on and accepting the challenge. I know who I would want.
I reserve that judgment until we know how much are we paying Kelly.

I love the hire. Look at his record at ND with the academic standards in place.
Trust the process...

If true (I have seen no sourcing from either side) a B hire, I think it is an emergency (face-saving) hire; I do not think Woodward had his man weeks ago. This is evidenced by the amount of money he had to shell out; seems to be grossly overpaid.
No question he is a good coach, but with some interesting questions marks:
- Can he relate to the average Louisiana 4 and 5 star athletes/LA Coaches, both from an age and cultural prospective. For instance, it will be interesting to see if he is able to re-recruit Citizen, Anderson and the safety from Amite. Can he shut the likes of Fisher, Napier, Saban, Kiffin, and Smart from stealing our top-rated Louisiana recruits? He recruits a different brand of kid to go to ND. Doubtful, but we will see, if he is hired.
- His football philosophy may not appeal to many down here (especially all those receivers we have been recruiting)...seems to be more conservative in his offensive approach (maybe wrong, but again we will see)
He has had much success up there...I am not sure that it will definitely translate to down here. Just not a cultural fit.
Better than most of the realistic candidates left...way below Dabo though. Hoping all my concerns are wrong.

Totally, completely way above what I ever expected! Great job SW and Co.

There are a handful of great coaches in college football. We’ve got one of them if this is true.

Seemed to work for Saban and Miles.

I honestly cannot believe people are stupid enough to think this isn’t a good hire. fricking Riley was who I was worried about.

He looks like a white whale? AND Miles and Orgeron looked like GQ models? Rrrrrrright!

LSU dodged a bullet by not hiring soft as ice cream pussy Riely, who wanted nothing to do with the SEC and bolted for the Left Coast, and hiring the right tough as nails no BS mick Machine Gun Kelly!!!

He’ll win a championship with Louisiana talent.
seems inevitable.
i dont think most understand how well he is a program building and getting the most out of his talent; he has put some absolute scrubs into the nfl

No comparison, Saban came here much younger...now he has a system in place and many national championships to hang his recruiting hat on.
Miles is way different from Kelly...used his down home "Andy Griffith" approach to sell the family atmosphere and he was fairly good at it.
Kelly had an advantage at ND he doesn't have here..."a prestigious academic university to sell"

There are factors at play here outside of his ability as a coach. No one can argue with his record
