Cryptotrader.tax

Costs $200 bucks for me but made it super easy. Just too many transactions to deal with.

I think 3commas or Binance US have discount codes.

Gonna wait until all of my orders complete before starting them again with more bots. I still have 4 open orders (XYO, FET, ZEN, LTC). Those four took a beating in the bear market.

This time, I'm definitely not adding trading pairs without researching the assets first. I was pretty lazy with that before.

Also for Louisiana folks, Binance is available here now.

Yep, great month. Have one (Sushi) 30 SO deep, but everything else is firing. I've got 12k invested and have been averaging about $40 a day in sales. Been slowly moving from USD profit to crypto. Overall portfolio is up $800.

Hopefully we're out of the crypto winter. That was tough.

Be careful taking profits in crypto. If we hit another bear cycle then you still owe taxes on those profits, even if the crypto prices tank later.

Thanks. Good point. I think I'll stick with the 5 or 6 I have taking crypto profit. I've doubled my BO and SO recently so I'll let that run for a while.

I still take my profits in cash just to be able to fully fund my bots. It takes a lot of money to keep em afloat when they all start dropping. My profits were way down the last several months. Starting to show some life these last few weeks. Figured we will bump up against the 200 day MA for a while, then hopefully break thru.

My bots are set to buy asap. Not sure that’s the best way to do it, but I fill more safety orders that way.

I just read this entire thread start to finish. It was like a novel:

There was an introduction. Then the plot thickened. There was a climax, and then the novel ended without a conclusion.

We need Mach and the others from the beginning to let us know how this is going, is it still working and what additionally have they learned.

I ended up dropping about 15k into my bots. I got up to 17k after a month or two but everything has dropped and I’m at about 5k right now and been there for a couple months.

Haven’t added funds and a lot of my bots are bottomed out. Might add some funds once things start moving a little.

Similar numbers. I'm in the ignore-it phase. Will probably cash some out to get some losses for tax purposes.

Not sure my next step. Have some cash ready to go but debating where it goes.

Figured that might be the case. Interested in learning the status of others that were posting about bots.

Seems that it is based on volatility, so you should still be able to make money, but some people got caught in a severe drop.

Maybe we need to do a wellness check on them.

For now, I'm out of the bots. I had three remaining bots that had been running since November and I closed them just last week for a loss. Given all the uncertainty with centralized exchanges, I decided to just take the losses for taxes. I plan to start the bots once I get more capital though.

Other thoughts:

- The bots were a great idea, but I was overextended. I should not have had 30+ bots for my account size (~$5,000)

- I plan to return to the bots soon, but I want each bot to be completely covered up to an 80% loss. The safety orders drained my account once the market turned.

- I didn't do a good job researching each crypto project before adding it as a trading pair (volume, fundamentals, etc). I'll change this for next time. Some bots were much more successful than others.

- In hindsight, I didn't factor in tax reporting for the overhead costs. I had to buy the highest tax report plan on Koinly since the bots create so many transactions. It was a few hundred extra dollars.

tl;dr - The bots were great, but mistakes were made that won't be repeated.
