My friend joined an apostolic church. They stayed on him so hard he made it 22 yrs so far. Also he had a little money so they married him to a young church member who pumped out 6 kids for him. He's broke now but has stayed sober.

Best wishes for your recovery!

It’s all in your mind. None of that other bullshite about friends, hobbies etc matters. If you want it bad enough you will stop. A lot of weak minded individuals just don’t know what to do when they get cravings. It’s not a fricking disease and can’t stand when I hear that. It’s a decision from start to finish. Make the right decision

Best thing I've ever done. Been going on 2.5 years. Completely changed diet work out 3 to 4 times week, eat healthy(mostly). Use to be heavy binge drinker and man let me tell you you can do it buddy. No 8 step program, no rehab, just woke up and cut it cold turkey time for a change. You can do it man feel the best I've felt ever and replace 8 cold beers with kombucha a day instead. Focus on fishing, hunting, and my kids. Living life and you can do it buddy !!!

Everything in moderation. That being said I'll pay cash for any drugs and alcohol you'd like to get rid of.

BTW a lot of kombucha has alcohol in it - read the fine print on the bottles.

Being completely honest man, going sober is f’n hard, sober sucks arse. But once you get through the sickness the wanting it the pain, sober is actually really nice, and things become so damn clear and nice … I been clean and sober for 6 years… no one can tell you how to make it better, but biggest thing is will power and keeping yourself in check

STFU cuck! It is classified as a disease
so quit spewing your uneducated opinion as a fact. I can post a screenshot to show your ignorance but I'll spare myself the time and assume you're just an idiot and not a lazy idiot

It really is a disease. There is a genetic component for predisposition to addiction. The brain is also different in an addict. The phenomenon of craving overrides the higher consciousness that weighs consequences and governs morality. I actually agree with you that the first drink is a choice. Once I start I literally can't stop though. Like there's something fricking wrong with me. It's an abnormal reaction- a disease.

This post isn’t worth a penny more than you paid for it, but here it goes…
Cutting out the bad stuff is only half the battle. You need to replace it with good stuff. Help someone out.
Every single one of you reading this are better at something than the rest of us; put that God given gift to use. OP, you got this. You’ve been hiding your gifts from yourself
edit:typo

Lol I think drinking 5 kombucha drinks a week has considerably less alcohol than my old selfs 50 beers a week lmao.....Little bit of a difference

Been sober a few months. Feel great physically and mentally, but I’m bored to death. Drinking was my pastime. No kids or family, hate yard work… feel like a bum sitting at home.

I had to get into exercising when I got sober. I needed something goal oriented to keep me occupied. This summer will be 10 years.
It doesn't have to be the same thing, but I would suggest finding a hobby that includes something that you can work towards some kind of completion.

This is a good decision indeed. The most difficult thing now is to keep it up and not give up.
I'm trying to figure out what prompted the six-month bump (pardon the expression).

I know it is still kind of early in your journey, but you should take the money you are no longer wasting on substance abuse, and lock it down for retirement. Let that money work for you.
Good advice, generally, but he is in school. I’m almost 60, and I didn’t start saving for retirement until I was 30. Back then I used to say that saving for retirement was borrowing from the poorest time of my life to fund the richest time of my life. That didn’t make sense to me then, and it still doesn’t.
