Might be easier to just buy a 300 Win

Damn, I guess everyone has passed through that place. Didn't know it was pulling customers from deep in LA.
Sad thing is, he has everything, and probably will have those 6.5-300 rds, but you'll probably also pay $100/box or more. Owner is a known ripoff artist and jerk. Dude charges $50 for an f-ing FFL xfer. It's insane.

Guessing you've never priced Weatherby Ammo.
And IMHO, $50 is not exorbitant for a transfer right now. These guys have been having a hard time getting guns and ammo.
They pretty much have to bump their transfer fees just to stay open.

Or the 7 Remington Mag. Ballistics are very similar with a 140 grain projectile.

Bowie's in Natchez had it. Also I get most of my reload hardware there. Bought the rock chuker there too.
I got around 800.00 in my reloading setup including three different calibers of dies. I have everything but the tumbler. It is a very rewarding hobby and plenty of time at night to hone your skills. That 6.5-300 will be a booger when shooting 3 ladders at the range, better get a good lead sled and pad.

I would not buy a WBY caliber if I didn't reload, the savings in reloading will far outweight $5.00 per round.
That's why my uncle started reloading, found a guy unloading his stuff and picked up every WBY die set Pre-1985.

Fortunately, I only live 30 miles away in NW LA and hunt in SW AR. I've been calling the store weekly looking for RL 17 gun powder. He actually has a pretty good supply of powder, but some of it's expensive.
quote:True dat! About 20 years ago he was charged w/ price gouging some items (?may've been propane) when a winter storm w/ unseasonably cold weather hit the area. I know he was charging $70/box for Weatherby loaded ammo 20 years ago.

Good luck finding your ammo.

Thank you guys, I think I have one box secured. I would really like about 5 to practice with but it is what it is.

How much do you think these guys are making right now?
Would you rather them charge $50 and keep the doors open or you not having anywhere around you to do a transfer?

I don't own one so I wasn't paying close attention but I'm pretty sure I saw five boxes on the shelf at Bowie's in Baton Rouge today. Worth a call.
