I was at that game. The night the magic came back to Tiger Stadium. I believe that’s what they called it. Hard to believe it’s been 26 years

Buy a copy of Gumbo for the Tiger Soul for several different accounts of this and many other famous and infamous LSU games!!!

My first LSU game.

Probably the last game I attended with my dad.
I love defensive football and for me, few games get any better than that one.

I was a die hard SEC/college football fan growing up but wasn’t ever really an LSU fan as my parents were from MSU. So at least I got indoctrinated w nice disdain towards the rebels.
I ended up going to LSU and this was my first game as a student in Tiger stadium and I am forever grateful for that game.
I vividly remember hearing the band on the field playing pregame and I literally got chills unexpectedly. I couldn’t believe that happened and I knew that cheering for this school the rest of my life was gonna be epic.
I also love a nice defensive struggle and loved watching how tenacious we were that night. Another memorable event happened that night too-the return of white jerseys at home.
It’s almost like the white jerseys washed away the black days of Hallman. That game was one of the things that make college football so great-the unranked team upsetting a top 5 opponent. The nervous, hopeful energy throughout the game just makes it so impactful on my memory.
This was my second favorite game from my college years, surpassed only by 1997 upset of Florida. That game had the same energy but more joyous moments due to us scoring more. Plus, it was the first time LSU ever beat a number one ranked team. Was nice to knock Spurrier down a notch after all the pain from the previous years. Side bonus note-was also nice to be the team to make him quit coaching football at Carolina.
Great memories! I don’t like thinking that it’s been 26 years since that day though!

if that dude ever pays for his own drinks in Baton Rouge, we have failed as a fan base.
Trust me, Troy got in his fair share of drinks while at LSU.
Jokes aside, this game still might be LSU's best revenge/redemption win ever after the 94 game. Actually after thinking for a second Dinardo had some amazing revenge/redemption wins, Fl in 97 after getting hammered in 96, and beating Bama 27-0 in 97 after getting shutout in 26-0 in 96 at home.

not televised, heck it wasn't even available on TigerVision
That's a testament to how far the program had fallen after the failed Archer & Hallman experiments.

My first home game as an LSU student, after growing up an Auburn fan. That was awesome!

Same. I was there. Awesome game. Twillie’s INT was unbelievable. Thanks for the memories!

That was the biggest win in Tiger Stadium in 7 years (Auburn scored 6 in that one as well).

Jamie Howard had a great quote after Bring Back the Magic - "I didn't do anything special, I just didn't throw 3 interceptions returned for touchdowns."

That was my first LSU game I ever attended at the ripe old age of 11. I still have vivid memories of it.

An earlier comment mentioned Nix not hearing the whistle because of crowd noise. I recall it differently. The center hiked the ball, and Nix unexpectedly stood up and started looking around. Gabe Northern hit him like a truck about a second later. I was always told that someone blew a whistle in the student section, and Nix thought the play was dead. Regardless, Gabe demolished that guy.

Wow, that was the very first LSU game I ever attended. I was finishing my masters degree at the time and me and a couple of grad school friends went to this game. Couldn't believe how loud and crazy that stadium was. I've been hooked ever since!
