I should tell my italian chef friend who just moved up there that that would be a good business proposition. Do you think it could compete with the deli competition though?

Made properly a muff blows any other Italian sandwich out of the water...I have had some good ones too. JMO though.

without a doubt. You may have to run it as an Italian deli, like this place:

Fiore's

their niche is they make the best frest mutz that i have ever tasted, and have one daily special sandwich each day, Roast Beef twice a week. Make your niche the muff, but stil carry the italian meats and cheeses, roasted peppers, dry pasta, sardines, clams, etc.

And TA, i really put this place's simple fresh mutz, ham or prociutto, roasted rep pepper, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper right up there with a central grocery muff. Depending on the day, i can't decide which i like more.
